The British Woman Who Woke up Chinese

This is very strange.
This woman, Sarah Colwill  has been having severe migraine and wakes up randomly one morning and her Plymouthian accent was gone! next she starts talking with a Chinese accent! Not just that, she's lost most of her vocabularies, can of beans instead of tin, fan light instead of ceiling fan, towel warmer instead of radiator.

The medics have done all the scans possible but no one can explain it. They said it seemed like a mini stroke but it left no scar whatsoever on her brain so they can't really prove it.

 They've named it Foreign Accent Syndrome, fair enough. 3 years down the line, all they can offer her  was speech therapy.

She got on the phone to her old  insurance and banks and asking for recording of her voice in past years, so she can listen to herself before this happened to her. They thought she was playing pranks on them, after a while someone spoke to her and helped her out. I must admit, she sounded very different.

It was quite interesting, I mean no offense but she was feeling very odd, she went to the salon once and was asked where she came from as in originally, she said Plymouth but they looked at her funny. Like are u kidding, you sound foreign. She'd ring to order Chinese meals and they'd put the phone down on her thinking she was taking a mickey outta them.

Her husband was asked if he would go out with a foreign girl, he said no cos I am English, fair enough, personal preference, (same way I won't marry a British guy) but what is he gonna do now that wifey has a foreign accent.  It must be hard living  not knowing what to expect next day from the effects of Migraine.

Her sister was actually going round with her as sort of like a bodyguard cos clearly they discriminate against her based on her accent. She said life was simple when she sounded ok, and now life is so much haarder! Oh well.....welcome to foreigner's world.

Till now,  Neuroscientists still can't find what's wrong with her. She is waiting for specialist botox to control her migraine so she can go back to work. Her speech is getting better obviously with the help of the speech therapist and now she has accepted herself and that makes things better.

Strange things really does happen.
