My Experience at Julius Agwu's Crack Ya Ribs in Manchester - Enjoy!

This show came to Manchester for the very first time and I thought, it nearer than London, lets go and have a laugh....Why not! Afteral we work so hard and as they say all work and no play makes Bunmi a .........girl. Plus its bank holiday next day so I can still rest plenty before going back to work. So off we went.....hubby and I.

At this point, a place like Manchester to me feels like "Abroad". I live in a errrm clears throat, "supposedly thush" part of England, where you don't see many black people. So on entering Manchester, yours truly, I could see plenty of my country men.
Seeing loads of guys around the post code area, we automatically knew we had arrived at the venue but there was a problem, it was on a main road, which mean there was no parking! So off we went again, to find parking. Like 5 mins walk away, we got one.  We didn't have any cash on us so hubby went off to find an ATM and I suggested he walks past the venue and ask what time the even will actually start- I know it said 6pm on the program but we all know "Nigerian Time" is very different.

He did exactly that and wasn't allowed it, so he assumed they had started. How wrong!

He came back to the car paid for like 6 hours packing and like the machine or the parking lot knew we came for a Nigerian show, it added a few more hours so all together like 11 hours but discounted the price. So parking sorted off we went to the venue together.

We got to the venue and was told by the security at the door - sorry we are running like 2 hours late! I thought i didnt hear well. Not half an hour  or an hour, 2 hours. Meaning the show will start at 8pm.

So I said to hubby please lets go find somewhere to eat. We went to ROOTs Restaurant and that was my first time there. I must say i wasn't too impressed. Load of guys sat around drinking and they had one very bad habit. Even though I was with my husband, they couldn't stop starring!

Like they were making it so obvious and of course my sharp husband noticed and just smiled, bless him. We ate and left the place, nice meal but they could do better, hubby said maybe cos its weekend, so their reception wasn't that good. I'm willing to try again sha. Food was really good, ate rice and goat meat, yummy.

We headed back to the venue, and unsurprisingly they still haven't started! This time we were checked in and given wrist bands to say we are allowed in.

We headed to the hall and it was very scanty! Surprise surprise!
We sat down and just waited to see what happens next. I was chatting with my friend at this point cos i was bored stiff, so I took a photo of the hall to show her what was going on.
Please Continue

There was nothing that said we weren't allowed to take pictures. There was a numb head sat 2 rows away from me with his wife, and as i took a photo with my phone, the flash was really bright and he sort of like looked back to say what the heck, I had to apologize only because i thought, oh damn he might be allergic to flash, epileptic or photo-phobic as they call them.

As at 9pm, we were still sat in the hall listening to the DJ work his tricks. At about 9.35-9.40 pm some random girl wearing a staff labelled round neck top stepped on the stage to say they were going to start soon.

The first guy that stepped on stage was Feso Oyegbade, poor guy or should i say silly guy, stepped on stage no apologies or nothing just got on straight with his jokes......You can imagine the rest. Some "Igbotic" guys sat right at the back were just swearing and shouting at him telling him to get of stage! Now that was totally uncalled for but errrm if you had seen the sizes of these guys and how deep their voices were, you won't even look at their faces twice! Poor Feso must have heard them ranting and asked for them to chill.

By the way the idiot and his wife that looked back when i was taking a photo of the hall earlier on! was taking photos and not just that! He was recording a video. How convenient! I hate it when people do things like that, if looks could kill, i probably won't be typing this today! Yes him and his wife were that bad.
Funny enough i know the guy! He probably doesn't know, but i know him wella! Right from secondary school days! It was dark , he wouldn't have seen me, but that apart. There was no need to be rude but couldn't expect any more from some Nigerians.

You can tell that Feso is a green horn. He has good jokes, but his delivery was imperfect. The unhappy audience did not help his career.

Anyway just before Feso went on for ages trying to make angry audience laugh, he got the harsh words and boos from the crowd. After him a guy called Pastor Zino or something like that. He sounded better and more experienced but still some people still booed him.

Just before 10pm Julius Agwu himself came on stage! Bearing in mind that it was meant to start at 6pm this is 4 hours later. He did right unlike the first two acts whom i thought were just called on to step in to fill in for the real acts quickly. First thing he did was to apologize. People still booed him too and said apology not accepted and he just stood there and asked what we wanted him to do! Some screamed prostrate.
And bless him he laid down flat and really apologized and then the party started!

The rest was history, we all forgot about the late start after like 10 mins into the first act, and we relaxed n started enjoying.

Now this is the first time this is happening in Manchester. It could have been the organizer's fault, it could have been that the comedians really got lost as Julius said when he got on stage, or they might have been told different times.
Even those who paid for VIP didn't arrive until around 9pm, which sort of tells me that they were probably told a different time to the the rest of us. Not nice.

Now if you are a white colored skinned lady or lad, think twice about sitting in front at some of these shows.
A Ghanaian guy brought his British babe, and almost all the comedians that came on stage picked on them! At some point they were called on stage to come and dance! poor girl, she did and in fairness, she was proper fit but i can imagine how embarrassed she must have felt. So think twice o.

The Organizers could have done better, if they got a decent hall, with parking spaces and add like a fiver to the tickets it would have been a far better experience.
Bovi, Akpororo, Senator, Dan d humorus, Funny bone and the singers, Kcee and Harry Song were also featured. All these guys were so funny!

Overall, would I go again! Oh yes I would.  In fact apart from starting late and poor organization, I think it was under priced, I'd gladly pay more for that sort of show! So why all these rant......Last time I checked, this is my blog and I can rant all I want!  *Big Grin"
